Evolution of the distances

A list of world records tries to tell something of how the sport of speed skating has evolved during the years. These lists tries to go a little beyond a simple list of world records and my aim has been to follow the evolution on each distance day-by-day by listing the ten best performances. While attempting to make these lists as complete as possible I have tried to go back in the past as far as I can, hopefully without making too many errors.
